As part of a major research project from 1999 to 2003, the GFR Center prepared the manuscript of the late Joe Ben Wheat, <strong><em>Blanket  \t\tWeaving in the Southwest<\/em><\/strong>, for publication by the University of  \t\tArizona Press. The fully illustrated book, edited by Ann Lane Hedlund, focuses on the historic  \t\tdevelopment of Pueblo, Navajo, and Spanish American textile traditions. During manuscript preparation, the GFR Center created a\u00a0  \t\tdatabase to manage information from Dr. Joe Ben  \t\tWheat&#8217;s textile analyses. Since the 1970s, Ann Lane Hedlund, director of the GFR Tapestry Program, has  \t\tconducted ethnographic research among numerous weaving families in the  \t\tAmerican Southwest, focusing especially on contemporary Navajo weavers. This long  \t\tterm, longitudinal research documents traditional and modern southwestern weaving trends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publications<\/strong>.
